Scott,

On our 87 PT38 those gauges are located in the upper portion of the lower dash. Easy to read with the steering wheel in the lower tilt positions. Am I missing something?

All I can say is that after loosing the power steering on a winding
road, I would never have been able to control the coach without the
BIG wheel. The smaller custom wheels may look nice, but I don't think
it is a wise upgrade.

Mine are on the top row of the upper dash. I guess they figured it
out by 87. The steering wheel obscures them completely and I have to
duck my eyes under the wheel to see them.

A person could relocate them by swapping them around

Scott,

I have the same problem in my '85. I have to pull myself forward
a little to read those two gauges. I am thinking of moving them
to a different location and putting less critical gauges in that
location.

True, but then the EL names printed on the dash face wouldn't match
the gauges

Hi Scott:

Many changed the old 22 inch wheel for an 18 or 20 inch VIP wheel and ended
that problem. There should be a link in the links or file section for it.
There are patterns made for the Birds. look for the bb then part numbers.
Nice wheels too. These were used in the later Birds like the M380 and LX/LXI's
