between rv and class 8 is the charging ;house batterys ;inverters ;and
relay/solenoids that suck juice while at rest .

Scott,

I sent you some contact information direct to your email address this
morning shortly after your post. I see that it bounced back with an
"out of office" message, so I don't know if you got it. If not, look
in the WanderlodgeForum database for Wanderoad Assistance. There are
two members in Louisiana in there with phone numbers listed. The
Memeber-To-Member database has four members in the New Orleans
neighborhood listed there also.

Good luck and keep us posted with what's wrong and the resolution.

I made it home. I appear to have a leaky injector or something
similar. Indication of a problem was that when I checked my oil
after driving from Memphis to New Orleans (400 mi), my oil level had
actually risen. When I called my mechanic, he told me that leaks in
the fuel system under the valve covers are fairly common on the
8v92. He told me to get an oil change, fill to 'L' on the dipstick,
and check the level every 100 mi. If it rose slowly, I am ok, it it
rose very quickly, I would need to have it addressed on the road lest
I get my oil too far diluted and cause internal damage.

Found 24HR service at a Travel Center America in Slidell, LA, and
got an oil change at 8:00 this morning. Oil level did not rise much
on the drive home. Problem can now be looked at by my mechanic that
I trust.

Glad you made it home safely Scott! I would prefer a local guy over
road service also and it is good that you had a choice. Let us know
what you find please for the learning benefit of us other 8V owners. ;^)

Pissing injectors show up with eye watering exhaust and performance
issues. A leaky injector at rest that pisses on the piston can bend
the piston rod or lock the engine from turning over.

With a tank full, sometimes a leak in the return lines under the
valve covers will leak even with the engine shut down. You may be
able to remove the return line to the tank and pressurize it with 5
psi and see if it maintaines pressure. Finding the leak is better
than a once over wrenching of all the old steel lines. I dress the
metal mating surfaces in 90 wt oil before reinstalling. some times
the lines are installed too twisted and the line is always trying to
untwist the nut. if it cracked, the line metal became too brittle for
the 22year old installed twist. I am not sure how the 8v is setup
under the valve cover?????

Water in the oil would have showed up milkey white and one gallon of
water will froth up to 4 gallons.

In a Duramax with the same issue, I dumped two gallons of oil out of
the crank case every day and added fresh oil without changing the
filter. I put the old oil in the fuel tank and ran it until Chevy had
time to find the failure. (the truck had a seeder mounted and shop
sitting was not an option)
