Replaced my black water dump valve (gold) with silver in March. Seems like
it cost about $125. Randy will know the EXACT amount!
Valve was easy to install--I made it a little more difficult than necessary
but Randy told me to do the obvious.

There is no comparison between the old valve & the new one. IT OPERATES
FLAWLESSLY.

BTW I found the manual tool used to open struck valves when I installed the
new valve. It's right by the valve, but not obivous to the (my) eye.
Hopefully it will stay mounted in place and suffer from lack of use.

I am sure this has been answered before, but what is the cost and what
is involved in replacing the black actuators in my 89SP with the
silver ones?

Bill: The TOOL is the best part of that system. It work's just great!
It's well designed and never once have I had a failure using the TOOL.
Infact I have grown so attached to it that I just automatically reach
in and grab the tool before I attempt to open either valve. I feel very
confident and relaxed using it. I've even wrapped a little black tape
on the end to make it more cushioned in my hand. Great piece of
engineering.. Bob, 93pt-il.

Bob are you saying that the Dupree air Dump valves do not work all of the
time and you have to constantly have the TOOL handy? I am not trying to be
facetious just trying to understand how they work.

If your Dupree valves are sticking you can easily pull them out and check
the paddles to see if you need new ones. Another fix could be that you just
need to shoot a little silicon spray on the shaft and in the air
inlet/outlet orfices. You'll get a million miles out of these valves but
they do require a little lube every ten years or so. Just did mine and Tom
McCarthy's 1995 and they work like new.

I honestly dont know Dave. I tried everything with the Dupree manual valve
on my black water tank and finally gave up. I order new "guts" for it,
lubed everything with silicon grease and a few months later it got even
harder to pull the handle out and even worse to get it back in. I finally
got frustrated enough to buy the electric Drain Masters. I just finished
installing them today.........and like Randy says I may be sorry. But for
now will just have to wait and see.

Nice thing about this is that now I know how easy it really is to change
the plumbing on the tanks. I just may do it again a little later and
completely hide the plumbing. Now these FCs with a Side bath look like they
have a guided missle strapped to the side.

Yes, I do have the older GOLD colored valve. It actually looks more
orange than gold. I've replaced the paddle's and adjusted the air
several times. I do like the TOOL if the air is a little low or
whatever , I just give it a little nudge with the TOOL it never fail's.
It's also a Great conversation piece, everyone want's to know how the
TOOL work's. Seriously, I think the valve's are great. When you look
at some of the other plumbing system's on the market it make's your
BRUTE system look great. I can't imagine SOB holding back 800# plus
waste. Work's ok for me.. Bob 93pt Illinois.
