It just amazes me what new material we keep learning from our members. Thats
what makes a great forum. Thank you all very much. Ernie-83PT40 in Texas

Contrary to what we all thought to be correct, a member has sent in
the BB king pin lube spec from a 1983 blue box owner's manual. The
two pages have been loaded to a file for review. It seems to
contradict what was frequently discussed on the old forum and accepted
as fact; namely that you are supposed to lube the king pins with the
wheels off the ground. This documentation clearly says not to raise
the wheels off the ground. Has there been an update bulletin from
Rockwell since 1983 reversing the procedure? Very interesting.

Cynic that I am I submit a lawsuit resulted in the reversal of technique.

Mike what do you think about lubing the kingpins? I was always told to take
the load off before greasing so the entire pin would get lube around it. I
have the factory manual in my coach and will bring it home later today. I
just lifted the wheel that I was lubing slightly off the ground with my 22
1/1 ton air/hydraulic floor jack. Interesting.
