Scott, on the newer 80's coaches, there was a sound deadening material
already installed. Unless you have wood up front and someone has not removed it-
the material should be there.

I am still trying to quite my generator as much as possible. Has
anyone tried adding a sound-deadening mat under the carpet and did you
get good results? If so, what did you use? I am running out of ideas
for working inside the gen compartment, figured this might be another
option.

Hello Scott,

We installed an enclosed/fan cooled generator in our coach and then replaced the
decaying foam insulation with new 1" thick sound insulation material on the
interior of the
generator compartment. Also installed a new pancake style muffler on the
generator
exhaust. We still hear a low roar when the generator is on but we can sleep
with it on
without a problem.

I'm new to all of this and recently purchased an 83FC 35. I want to replace
insolation in
dog house and generator compartment. I was reading a thread last night about
lead/
fibreglss material that was used by one of the members. His report was that it
was very
effective.

I hope to learn more before I choose the wrong stuff.

I did my dog/cat house about 6k miles ago with a combination of foil/bubble
house insulation and duct liner used by the HVAC guys. Total cost was about
$20. There is no heat radiating through the insulation on my (driver side)
or my wifes side even after 10-12 hours of driving. If you want more info I
will get it for you. Brad Bloxham 78FC 35' 3208NA
