I'm not sure what gears my old 78 Wanderlodge has but I was wondering
how hard it would be to change out the set I have and install a higher
gear ratio. Steve Anderson has taller gears in his Wanderlodge and
seem to cruse at about 10 mph faster than I do at the same RPM. Any
information would be greatly appreciated. One more thing how many
hours of labor would this require to complete.

I bet there is more to the math then changing the cruise speed @rpm
in the highest gear. I understand the bus gear math ratios were
reset for the 55mph national speed limits, whenever they were set
into law. It may be that a taller gear would be that which was
origionaly engineered.

My old 78 was upgraded to 4:88 from the original 5:xx by the
previous owner. I can cruise at 65 on the flat with the toad (GPS),
but I usually hang around 60. It will go a little faster but it's
old and so am I. You may have some difficulty finding the gears as
others on the forum have mentioned. I am not sure what the RPMs are
since my tachometer sticks and seems to under register based on the
rpm/speed chart on the forum.
If you look at the plates on the dash behind the engine cover tray
it should have the rearend data on it.
