When Brenda and I were looking for our first bird- an 82 FC, I had to stand,
literally on the accelerator in order for us to move on down the road. We
sure have learned a lot since then.

If your throttle pedal is hard to hold down (or push down), a simple
fix is to eyeball the throttle springs on the engine and see what
they're doing. I've seen them too long and catching on things, too
short and hard to pull, and too strong. A good hardware store will
have and assortment to choose from and try out. I think there are
normally two of them, and there are several attachment points on the
engine and nearby brackets.

Don't assume the ones on the engine are the original ones, although
they may be, but this doesn't necessitate that you replicate them
either.

The other funtion is the cable. Unfortunately, especially on the
turbo engine, the cable loops from the pedal to behind the doghouse,
and then turns back toward the front to reach into the doghouse area
and attach to the injection pump. During the looping back phase of
it's journey, the cable is near the headers, exhaust pipe, and the
turbo is so equipped. The poor cable is likely pretty tired and heat
damaged. It could use some TLC in the form of lubricant, and heat
protection.

On my coach, I ran a new cable from BB through some heat shielding,
and left the old one in place (after lubricating it) in case I ever
needed it. The cable was a reasonable price and the old one had a
fairly heat damaged housing.

Lastly, I've seen coaches with a block on the pedal. Mine has an
aluminum wedge shape with rubber on the top of it mounted to the top
of the original pedal. I like it fine and have left it in place.
