On my 86 PT40 there is a bulk oil fill tank. I have a drawing showing a 6 pin
connector. Anyone know where this connector is located.

Also there are three speakers on top of the bus what goes to each speaker. Only
the one on the drivers side works [musical horn] and the volumn from it is low.
Is there a volumn control for these speakers.
Thanks,

Howard Truitt

My musical horns have two speakers on the roof and a volume control located
next to my left knee

Howard,

Can't help with bulk oil fill (never toyed with mine), but I have
redone my musical horn.

The middle speaker on your roof is the external P.A. that operates
through the original hand-held CB handset. The other two speakers
(the outboard ones) are for the musical horn. The driver's side horn
plays treble, the passenger side plays bass. These speakers often go
bad from age (they have all been bad on both 'Birds I have owned) and
get very quiet or quit altogether. I suspect this is your problem.
There was no volume control on the '86-vintage horns.

The good news is that the speakers are easily replaced. A common
P.A. horn available at Radio Shack for about $40 is a direct
replacement. I would be willing to bet if you replace them, your
horn will work.

If that doesn't solve the problem, the brain for the horn is a black
metal box located behind the panel in front of the co-pilot seat.
Pull it our and ship it to Doug down at PMMI, he will fix it for
you. And as long as you are sending it, go ahead and send him a new
song list with the songs you like (you can print tne list from the
PMMI web site) and he'll reprogram it for you for a small fee.

My horn is loud & proud, playing the songs I chose. A musical horn
is a silly item in the big scheme of things, but if my 'Bird has a
feature, I want it to work.

Scott,
I spliced into the wires from the black box and connected to a speaker and the
musical horn worked fine. I'm the same as you if it has a feature I want it to
work.
I just got a new timer for the coffee maker even though my wife says she will
use her Mr. Coffee.
Thanks,
Howard

Open the side panel of the coach so you can look directly at the bulk
oil fill tank from the passenger side. The connector should be roughly
in the middle of the thing, maybe a bit to the right, and slightly
behind it. Mine is on a bracket welded to the tank if memory recalls.
I believe this is a connection to a solenoid (you should see it right
in there, too) that opens a valve to push air into the bulk oil tank
when energized by the oil fill switch, thus forcing oil out the
nozzle.

Hope this helps.

Ryan,
I have the the air solenoid and also a air pressure switch but no 6 pin
connector in site.

Just went out and looked at mine. Sure enough, I don't have a 6 pin
connector. Should have looked first before opening my mouth. There's a
little red light, some tubing and the solenoid & switch with a wire or
two going to them. That's it. My head must have mistaken those
components for the connector when I read your post.

So, sounds like your coach is configured exactly as it should be. Not
sure why your drawing shows a connector that neither of us have.

The bulk oil fill makes it easy to add oil to the engine. On diesel pushers it
is always a bit tough to pour oil in the fills - little room for a container or
funnel.

The tank is easy to access and add several gallons of oil. It is air pressurized
(switch turned on pressurizes it), and there is a fill nozzle with valve on a
hose, along with a rotary counter that tells you how much you are dispensing.

I don't know about that, Don. If you can't eat it, it can't be all
that great. ;-) I'm no nutrition expert or anything, but the bulk oil
fill doesn't look all that tasty to me. A couple pieces of toast with
huckleberry jam, on the other hand...

You also have bulk oil fill on some 3208 FC's. Not quite as slick..as you have
to handle the nozzle, but still works. Brad Barton
