Fellow Wanderlodgers:
One of the rear hydraulic leveler jacks on my 83' FC-35 has been
leaking fluid for some time. Decided to fix it before leaving on my
first big road trip.
So I pulled it off, and two weeks ago delivered it to a hydraulic
repair shop. They told me they would have it fixed in a few days.
Well, they called me back last Friday to tell me that their main
mechanic quit, and the remaining guys didn't know how to fix it.
I leave for my first road trip on Saturday. There is a leaking
hydraulic jack in the back of my car. Not sure if any shop has the
time to fix it at this point....
Anybody know where I might be able to buy a rebuilt one and drop off
mine as a core? Is the factory that made these things still in
business?
I'm not even sure what model I have. Can't find any part numbers.
One of my Wanderlodge books mentions the AP-2968 and AP-2381. Does
anybody know what model was installed in early 80's FCs?
Any help would be greatley appreciated! I'm beginning to regret
tackling this project with just weeks to go.

I'm going to contact HWH momentarily. However, I don't know what
model jack I need to order. Can't find any part numbers on it.
Any suggestions on how to find that out?

I have the manual that I believe came from hwh. In it it has parts breakdown
drawings for 2 style of units. One is AP-2512, Lifting capacity is 9000 lbs.,
The other heavier unit is AP-2318, lifting capacity is 16,500 lbs. Hope this
helps. 1980 FC.

Hey Everyone,
Spoke with the nice folks at HWH this afternoon. I'm acually going to
stop by the factory in Moscow, Iowa on my way out west. When I looked
at the map, I realized it was not far out of my way - just off Route 80!
My apointment is 7 AM on Tuesday the 31st. They are actually going to
re-build my jack as I wait and install it for me. The woman estimated
4 - 5 hours total. Plus, this process is much cheaper - it will only
cost me approx. $230 to rebuild the unit, as compared to $350 to ship
me a re-built one.
When I told them I have an 83' FC-35, they were unable to tell what
model jack I have. However, I went through my box of Wanderlodge info
and found some specs on a AP-2381 jack. I mentioned the AP-2381 to
the person on the phone who described it back to me. The description
fits - it is the model in my bird.
They even have electrical hook-ups for RVers spending the night for
service in the morning! Sounds like a pretty cool place. While I'm
there, I'm going to have them check my other jacks as well.
Just wanted to fill you all in on the details!

I've been to the HWH factor in Moscow, Iowa. If you come away disappointed
I'd be surprised. Even hooked up to their elec. for a nights stay.
Yes, good thought having HWH check out your entire leveling system.
Be sure to let them buy you lunch. When I was there in 2005, all I had to do
was be in the customers lounge at 12:00...great lunch. And you must take the
pie and ice cream with the lunch. They insist.
HWH is truly the best experience for service and repairs that I have ever
experienced.
