If you have a cross-island bed, the access is in the floor of the
bedroom between the bed and the rear cabinets. I've done it a couple
of times. Let me know if that is your bed arrangement.

If it is like mine one alternator is accessible by removing the mattress and
removing a large plate. It has numerous screws. My other alternator is behind the
r/h side of the rear bumper.

In addition to Ron's comment, if it is a forward facing bed, the
access is through a plate under the bed just in front of the rear
closet wall.

If you belong to WOO group, (www dot wanderlodge dot us) I have a
detailed pictorial on how to do this step by step. You will have to
loosen and pick up the carpet between the bed and closet to get to
the plate. It is a tight fit.

OR- you could post that detail here~

Would love too, not picking favorites, but Yahoo will not support
such an extensive article with picture and descriptions. That I
know of ???? correct me if I am wrong.

Unless you have something very unique, you can post it here. As
examples, look at the in Files at one called Racor Fuel Filter.pdf or
at the FC Dog House Removal file. Both those files are full of text
and pictures. The Racor is word and text in a .pdf and the FC
Doghouse was scanned and saved as a .jpg, both of which are common
file formats that can then be read by anyone without need for special
software. Alternatively, Bob Lawrence just posted a pictorial of his
tankless water heater addition in a Photo albumn with narratives on
each picture that made it pretty clear what was involved. Michael
Brundridge did the same thing in the Photos with an albumn showing his
AC conversion from Dometic to Carrier units.

For a narrative 'extensive article' with embedded pictures in the
text, I would suggest setting the article in Word and load it as a
File. Better yet, save it to a .pdf after setting it in Word, so that
anyone can read it. That would be best. If you already have it set
as an article, it should be no big deal to convert and post as a File.

Yahoo has increased all the space allocations for Files, Photos, etc.,
so we have lots of room available to post such things now.

There's your alternatives. If you need help, let me know.

My bed has the cross island queen.
I assume all the carpet has to be removed from the
rear bulkhead. Is there an access panel behind the
carpet.

Thank

Nelson:

You begin by removing two sections of carpeted base. Start with
the short piece at the nightstand. There are screws hidden in the
carpet that hold the base in place. Use a magnetic stud finder to
assist in locating the screws.

Next, pull the carpet back, again starting at the night stand.

There are actually (2) pieces of plate. It is obvious which has
to be removed first. The second and largest has screws into the back
wall, so you probably will have to pull some plumbing clamps in order
to see all of them.

In order to provide more working room, you can remove a 10-12"
piece of the plywood supporting the mattress along that isle. Once
you remove the mattress, you can see it.

Once the plates are removed, you can see the alternator. Loosen
the anchor bolt before loosening the adjusting bolt. Do this after
you have removed the (3) wires from the alternator.

Since you have to work on your knees, bent over in a hole, you
will find that this is not a fun job. I suggest you use a piece of
plywood for kneeling over the opening. A trouble light will also help.

When you have re-built the alternator, the process is just the
reverse. You will need an air stapler or electric stapler to
reinstall the carpet.

Let me know if you need anything else.
