We are thinking of installing in-motion Satellite on a "soon-to-be
ours" 1986 PT-40. I know there have been a lot of discussions on the
pros and cons from my initial readings. I would be interested on any
suggestions anyone might have on the following:
1) Are you happy with in-motion?
2) What Brand would you recommend?
3) Do you have HDTV and does it work well over in-motion?
4) How difficult is Satellite mounting on the aluminum decking?
5) Is there an optimum location to mount on the PT40?

I have the Motosat T2 Automotion in-motion tv turner and love it.
The nice thing about this setup, you can tell the dish what satelite
you want to point the unit towards. So it will work with direct tv or
dish network or both if you have to have both. Sorry only one
satelitte at a time. It does not do HDTV because it only has one LNB.
But if you are travelling for long distances, it helps to keep your co-
pilots occupied and not back seat driving if you know what I mean.
LOL Installation is very easy and I believe I took more time trying to
decide where to mount. Mine is mounted mid-bus because that was all
the room I had left. If I were you, I would mount either in the front
of the bus or rear. So when you pull into your pad hopefully the end
that the dish is located on will be sticking up from under the canapy
of trees. I have a Motosat Datastorm with TV attachment so if the T2
does not get signal, I switch to the Datastorm. Most time I have clear
path between the two. End the end, if I don't, my datastorm will have
clear path out to high speed internet.

Glenn,

I have KVH L3 in-motion and love it. I also use DirecTV which
automatically selects the satelite.

I do not have HDTV yet. If you get it, report on your findings for the
rest of us.

Mounting appeared to be fairly easy (AMEX). I did have to sign the
credit slip.

Location, location, location. Pick the spot where it has the most
clearance from other devices mounted on the roof. It is a line of
sight system that can be easily blocked by buildings, trees,
overpasses, Rotton Rob walking on your roof while you teenage son is
trying to watch TV and heavy rain. Where ever you choose, be assured
the next spot you park will have one tree directly blocking your
reception. Try moving forward or back to get a clear signal.
