Hi, folks--

Stew and I are desperately seeking some recommendations for good, safe RV
campgrounds in the Portland/Beaverton, OR area. Close to Beaverton is preferred.

We need to make one or more emergency trips to Beaverton in the coming weeks to
consult with a veterinary oncologist. Our kitty, Rosie, has been diagnosed with
Vaccine-Associated Sarcoma (VAS) as a result of receiving Fort Dodge Animal
Health Rabvac 3 rabies vaccine. We were absolutely shocked and saddened because
we had never heard of such a thing. It is a very real phenomenon and issue in
the veterinary medicine world, and I have since found a yahoo group of more than
1,000 people whose kitties have died from or are suffering from VAS. (If you
don't know about the fact that rabies and other vaccines can cause cancer at the
vaccination site on your pet, please e-mail me off-list, and I'll send you some
Web links I have discovered since learning of this.)

Anyway, thank you so much in advance for any recommendations you can offer! Wish
we had better occasion to ask about this.

Jo-Ski,
As you are probably aware there are not a lot of choices in Portland
city area. My only personal experience is with Portland Fairview RV
Park in Fairview (on East side of Portland), which was quite nice.
The CG is about 23 miles (30 minutes) from Beaverton.

Just for info purposes a reliable internet site to look for personal
reviews of CGs is http//rvparkreviews.com with mostly user reviews,
the owner reviews are usually pretty obvious for so-so parks, good
reality check for Trailer Life guide.

Thanks for info on VAS, when our cats are due for shots I will
discuss with vet. Wish you and Stew the best with your Rosie.

We have stayed a few times at Portland Fairview
http://www.portlandfairviewrv.com and a couple of times at Jansen Beach
http://www.jantzenbeachrv.com . I would say overall that we like the park at
Fairview better, but we stay at Jansen when we want to be closer to Portland
(and Vancouver). Jansen Beach is about 15 miles from Beaverton, and time will
vary greatly depending on traffic.

We most recently stayed at Jansen for 2 weeks in May; rate was $165 per week
w/Good Sam discount.
