My coach has tose 2 items. Tey use to work. While I had some time
today, I looked in the parts manual. On the electric high idle buffer
switch - that sits on top of the jake brake controller, the parts list
shows a diode attached to the 2 electric leads. On my coach, there only
remains a piece of wire- no diode. Does anyone know what that diode
might do? That thing may be the only reason, my Jake/high idle is
inoperative. Thanks, Ernie-83PT40, warm Montana

Is there a relay involved with the Jake Brake circuit where you find that diode.
Sometimes a diode is put across relay windings to preven a false energizing or
de-energizing pulse. Maybe thats all it is and that would explain the reason
for Bob Loomas's Jake Brake working ok. Without a wiring diagram or schematic
though, I couldn't say for sure.

The diode is connected to the 2 wire leads on the switch- per what I see on
the diagram.

Bob, that's' strange. I wonder why they show a diode on that switch, if
yours works ok without it??
