I blew a retarder hose last night, stranding me in rural Arkansas and
causing an all night process to get it towed back home to Memphis. All
fluid was out of the tranny within a mile, luckilly it happened right
at an exit and I was able to coast up the ramp to a safe spot. The
retarder was not activated when it gave up. Yet another example of a
relatively simple and inexpensive part that can ruin your whole day.
If yours are old, you may want to consider a change. Mechanic said it
looked like mine had been on there for a long, long time.
