Well, with all things electrical not registering in my brain, I'd like to
know, also. I guess it might be like tv, cell phones, and computers- if they
work fine- if they don't~

So far-- nothing is bad. i was cleaning around there and found lots of toys
from my poodles and saw all the connectors. i remember on my FC that a bad
connector wire disabled the coach from starting- till Ralph narrowed it down.
That connector was under the dash but looks like the ones under the sofa.

Dick, Bob Loomas called me and said that when he changed out his old
speakers, radio and amps- all his noise stopped. I only have noise when I have
the
local am station on with the kitchen fluorescents on.

Does anyone know if these units, located under the sofa, ever go bad?

What do these do and how do they do it? I have a problem with my rear
view camera and this box has been suggested as a potential source of
the problem, but there are no schematics or any mention of it in the
blue box....

Ernie:
Very unlikely I would think. If anything a capacitor might go, or the switch
controlling it, all this thing is , 3 capacitors and an inductor.
What I have in my 84 FC is a 8 pin contactor, maybe one of these contacts is
bad.

I presume they do Ernie. On our '81FC that filter had been wired around. I
have to think that it had failed in some way. However, everything worked just
fine and I never noticed any noise on the tv or radios.

I encountered mine when I was taking out a sofa -- wasn't sure what
it was, so I opened it up. It had 3 very large capacitors and some
wires. I suppose it's possible that a capacitor could short out or
something, but it's really a fairly simple circuit. I'll leave it to
the more electronically inclined to explain the specifics of the
operations, but it works sort of like the way a reservoir "smooths
out" potential floods after a rain... power (water) enters the
capacitors (reservoir) then departs in a controlled rate. Not much to
go bad or fail.
