Al here

I tried the message archieve but it wouldn't work for me, so I thought I
would try you guys.

My safe combo has been changed from the original factory setting as per 2
different locksmiths. They would have drilled it but since I assume it's

empty and there are no replacement parts, I didn't see the point in ruining
a great safe. I was going to hid a new one somewhere until I found these

#'s under the couch seats covering the safe (shhhh, don't tell anyone).

50 452

Not really having used dial safes in the past I don't know the proper order
of spins and what direction to start turning. Anyone have any advice?

Hi Sid,

I just replaced mine with one from Blue Bird. Was around $100 or
so... like everything else. Brand was "ohmite". Was pretty easy to
get to. New one works beautifully. Could not find a match at any
auto parts stores, but did not try a "good" NAPA (the one here in
Hershey is pretty sad) I can walk you throught the removal and
installation if needed.

Don't drill the head/door, it is expensive. Drill the side of the
box, remove dinette booth to do so, box can easily be welded later.
Two bolts hold it down, from inside the box.

Al,
The Dial - 4 or more turns to the left past the 1st number then stop on
the 1st number...2 turns to the right past the 2nd number then stop on
the 2nd number...1 turn to the left past the 3rd number then stop on the
3rd number...turn to right until dial clicks or stops...should open. I'm
working from memory. Will check in the morning for notes that I made and
can't find at the moment (CRS...again). Good luck.

Al here

Thanks Curt. No luck yet but I keep trying the numbers in different
combinations hoping I'll hit the right combo.

Jeff,
I located where the bolts were, drilled a small hole in the side of
the wood frame and used an air chisel to cut through the bolts. Took about
ten minutes and I didn't have to do any welding.....
Took the box up to the local key man and he had it open pretty quick...

removing it? How are things?

Hi Bill! Nice to see you're still around...how about setting up a meet
some day?

Had to take the safe out....the klutz who bolted it in did it in such a way
that you
could only see the numbers with a mirror..........locksmith said take it
out and
I'll open it.......previous owner was probably a dyslectic with mirror vision.

Blair in Oregon.....raining again, the grass is up to my mid thighs, so thick
it's going to be a real B______ to cut.
