Glenn, being able to start and stop your coach, is indeed, a milestone. Now,

Just a note to mark a personal milestone. Took the old ignition switch
out, replaced it with a new bolted post one and reassembled the part
of the console the previous owner had left. She now starts like a
dream. Thanks to Mike Hoenstein for the pointer on the bolted
terminals. Not the first repair, but the first correct one.
Little details impress me.

I'm glad that worked out for you.

If you use graphite, put a towel around the switch, as graphite will stain
your floorcovering. I have seen many hinges on doors that on the carpet directly
under the hinge, a black stain.

Does anyone know the ignition switch make for 2004 M380. I can start
the engine from the rear switch but not the ignition switch. The keys
have been a little sticky recently getting in. It seems to turn all
the way to start-nothing happens.

Jim,
Use compressed air with a spray tube and blow down into key opening.
Try a squirt of graphite powder in the key switch. Also check the key for a
burr.

If the key turns all the way to "Start", the pins and sheer
would seem to me be working as a key lock should though.
Graphite powder would definitely help the stickyness.

Wonder? Is there a theft-proof feature on the front that is
not in the rear ignition circuit?

Jim,
Another thought, on my 86 PT40 you have to flip the toggle switch at the rear to
crank from the rear and while set to crank from the rear it will not crank from
the front. Happened to me.

found out can't start the bus from the front with the engine door open!
thanks to all for your suggestions.

Just spent the last two days chasing my tail trying to find a replacement
ignition switch for my 97 WB. Seems it is the same switch used for a long time
and know it is used at least on the 85FC as well.

Truck dealers don't stock this switch. I have gone to Kenworth, Peterbuilt, Ford
truck, Freightliner and GMC truck.

The place to get the switch is INTERNATIONAL, especially the school bus dealers.
It appears that school buses (makes sense) use the same switch and the
International part number is: 1652306C91. I replaced mine today.

In the for what it's worth dept., I stopped by the BB bus dealer here and they
have sent most of their parts back and didn't have the switch nor one that they
could find in their parts book.

For the archive, the Pollak part is 31-139 and the International part is
1652306C91.

Now all I have to figure out is how to change the lock cylinder so the keys to
the front ignition is the same as the rear ignition switch now that I have
changed the front.
