If it has the turbo 350 or 400 Transmission or a powerglide 2 speed
you have to install a driveshaft disconnect

I think the Checker used GM small block engines and 350/400
transmissions for many years. If the Checker you have in mind uses
this drivetrain, then the towing requirements should be the same as a
GM vehicle of the same period.
If the Checker front end will track 4-down (not a given) then the worst
case setup would be an auxillary transmission oil pump or a driveline
disconnect.
