Keith,
Welcome to the "Oh my God can this price be right" club. I just replaced all
the bulbs in my bird (ALL), now that will drop you to your knees. My guess
is that they just don't sell that many so the price is up there in the ozone
layer. By the way you should get "sunshine" not the cool light because it is
way brighter and adds a clean look to the inside.

The original was 1.5 amps 15 watt the new one is 2 amps 15 watt. One thing
that I did notice is that you have to have your batteries at a decent charge
to power the new bulbs up. I don't think it is just a quirk with my bird.

How much should I be paying for the 18" fluorescent bulbs used in our
Birds? I bought one at Walmart but it was around $6.00. A little
steep?

Sometimes, I have to use a pair of pliars on the end and slowly twist the
bulb out.

Keith Take a pieces of that rubber that you put on a shelf to keep
things from sliding around & wrap it around the bulb. The strip only need to
be
a couple inches wide. You can turn the bulb out real easily. I keep a piece
just for that.

Yep, same exact bulb. I ordered 24 today. And I'm gonna need most of
them. I didn't realize how many were out until I started looking
around. They sure are hard to get out of the fixture with my extra
fat fingers!!!

Thanks Bill, I just bought a case from bulbman.com. Not the sunshine
model but I can live with "cool white" for $2.05 a piece....
