Something you may not have noticed is a Truckroute posted sign which
limits the path of travel for commercial vehicles. If you choose the
T route and assume the height is 13 foot you are good to go. One
mistake folks make is hitting turn outs on steep grades when people
are behind them. The problem with the turnouts are most often
reentering the roadway you are unable to regain the max speed you
were at when you hit the turn out. New oncomming traffic now is in
danger of hitting you. I ran the 74 grade from PalmSprings toward
Hemet Ca lastweekend in 2nd gear and under 2000 rpm, passed maybe 8
turn outs and scored a 90 at the crest of the hill. The first 50
gave me the finger then the last 20 waved a thankyou. The pull over
rule about allowing faster traffic pass is trumped by the hazzard you
create when you re-enter. ( I turn off the hazzards after about 5
cars are trailing because I dont want to further piss off the first
in line)
When you enter or drive a 55 plus speed roadway, always show your
hazzzard lights if your speed is >10mph under the posted speedlimit.

Using hazzard lights to enter a freeway helps open traffic up
better , a left turn signal often alerts traffic that a bus is trying
to get infront of them. they seem to move over for a hazzard and you
want to maintain acceleration upto speed and not have to hold off for
a unkind driver that will not yield.

Driving in fog is easy. Dont drive in fog

use red tape to highlight 1-water temp gauge 2-rpm gauge 3- hazzard
light button. (engine oil tem should not go over235 and water stay
under 200)

learn the fuction of the retarder and remember to shut it off( I will
not post as your retarder is more horsepower than the 94 I have) I
allow the fleetwoods to pass on a down hill and never let the rps go
over 2000. The rule of the road is never decend faster than you can
climb. I use the brakes to slow the engine to 1500rpm if needed and
reduce the allison tranny to 4 ( if the tranny is in 5 selecting 4
will not cause a down shift it will only limit the up shift so you
may have to attempt a downshift by accelerating)
