My bus had a 12 amp drain that was caused by the retarder being
energized at all times. The post for #1 position is energized at all
times, but the relays in the box are not until the ignition is on and
the retarder lever is moved to position. For now, I've removed the
wire from the box to the retarder for #1 position and everything seems
to be OK. 2,3 and 4 are functional. I'm thinking there must be
something in the back of the box making contact with the #1 post. Can
these control boxes be taken apart? Any other ideas?
