We have been away several weeks so don't know if this has been covered on our
groups.

Opened accumulated mail yesterday and found letter advising a Dometic
refrigerator recall. A fatigue crack can develope in the boiler tube and is
source of potential fire.

They supplied the serial and model numbers. Too many to enter here but if you
have one manufactured between April 1997 and
May 2003 and for some reason haven't received notice you might want to contact
them. The number is 1-888-446-5157. Maury 80 fc 31'

I'm in the same boat. Has anyone had the repair done yet or know what is
required? Is it the
kind of thing a person could order the repair kit and do it themselves or does
it require a lot
of technical knowledge to install?

The kits won't be out until April. There is an exterior back up fire box
and some fuses to be added. It is a patch to contain any fire in the LP
lighted area if need be. 99.98% of the units do not have a problem. Dometic
is supplying Dometic certified dealers or mobile tech's with the kits and
are only paying $40.00 per install. They are not replacing the cooling
coils which the boiler tube is part of.

That is all I know on the behind the scenes so far. Will up date as I learn
more.

The notice I received stated that the parts would not be to the dealers
until the middle of April.
