PINCKARD: On Sunday the Pinckard Volunteer Fire Department was
fighting a fire of a RV and a grass fire on 231 near the twin bridges. The RV,
valued at over $ 230,000.00 was completely destroyed by fire.

Assisting with directing traffic was a volunteer worker. That
worker was struck by a motor vehicle on 231 while he was directing traffic.
Newton Volunteer Rescue transported him to Flowers Hospital. His injuries are
not believed to be life threatening.

On the scene was Pickard Volunteer Fire, Midland City
Volunteer Fire, Newton Volunteer Fire, and Echo Volunteer Rescue. Midland City,
Newton and Pinckard Police, Dale County Sheriff and Alabama State Troopers were
on the scene.

The fire is beleived to have started from the brake system of
the RV. The driver was able to disconnect his vehicle which he was towing and
save it.
