Hi All,

The problem I have had with the retarder is directly related to the new
problem I have incurred... I did not notice it before, but the HWH pump
motor was running as soon as I put on the master leveler switch... This
when it was turned on would drop the voltage down to 11 volts on the
volt gauge, which in turn would not let the retarder work, due to too
low voltage for it to operate... was experimenting and when I turned on
the level master the retarder would not work, turn it off and in a few
seconds the alternator would recoup the voltage and the retarder would
work, hearing distinctive clicks from the control box...

Now, I am thinking the HWH pumps problem is the solenoids shorting
internally to keep the motor running when flipping the switch... What
do you all think??? Does it sound like the solenoids or do I look
somewhere else???

All suggestions appreciated...

TIA

I just was wondering why you would have the leveler on when you need
the retarder??

Hi Jim,
I have a leveling jack that continues to set off the warning buzzer when I start
the CAT, it is annoying to listen to when troubleshooting the problems with the
retarder... checking the level master I can see which jack has set off the
alarm... I then drop the jack and get it in a position where it stops the
buzzer, while testing for the retarder, this is when I discovered the voltage
drop when the leveling master was on, and then I noticed the drop in voltage on
the gauge when it was turned on and the increase when it was turned off... I
have to get the jack fixed to stop the buzzer altogether, right now it is just a
location of the jack against the stop that sets it off... I have been removing
the sensor from the jack and cleaning the mating surface as well as the
ground... It stops for a while and then it starts up again, I am getting close
to getting it fixed, but not quite... I hope this answers your question...;-)
