In the FMCA book was an ad for insurance offered at an FMCA discount.

I received a quote back after a week that stated they could insure my
84 PT but would need an appraisal done in the last 3 years.

Question...who should I contact to get one done.

My present insurance Formost is costing me 725 per year and this
company wants 515 per year...sounds good if I can get the appraisal.

Bob, just a thought; why not ask FMCA who they want to do the apprasial. Unless
you get a commitment out of them in advance that they will accept the appraiser,
you have no assurance it will be usable. Or get from them a list of names thay
will accept and then shop price on the appraisers.

Bob, Wallace has a good point. I did my own appraisals for insurance
on my tractors. I was told the appraisal sets max value for a claim
and that value is a factor in premium charged. Max value has nothing
to do with actual amount you can expect to get back in event of a
loss except for the top end of the claim (I think). I got a letter
that they need an indepent appraisal for an audit of the insurance
companies total loss obligation. I sent a letter back that I would
accomindate their appraiser (you want, it you get it). The guy they
sent said he charged them $1670. for the appraisal of a bunch of crap
that has less than $150K worth of market value.

My bus is insured in a personal policy with an other insurer. They
asked for an appraisal at the start and I sent them a letter stating
the value and how I calculated the value. You may want to check if
they are going to require the insured to update the appraisal every
three years. They may also allow or have a form for you to do or get
an appraisal.

I set the appraisal value below purchase price because my interior
was not pink.

I called the FMCA 5 star insurance back and they said I would have to

coach..Think I'll pass..to much trouble for the 200 buck savings each
