Tom, thanks for the reply. Every tranny I've changed I've lifted back into
place by hand. I think I'll still file this one under big job:-) It is nice
to know that it isn't super major though, I'd like to get it fixed. Aside
from my wish to have a "perfect" Bird, I'm leaving an awful mess everywhere.

Thank you also, Dave and Jon. I think I'll be calling thurs. to see how soon
they can get me in.

Al S.

Al this is not what you asked for but it might help. Its really not a big
job, if you have either a lift or a pair of OTC 20 ton tire jacks to lift
the front end off the ground about 2'. The drive shaft needs to be
dropped, tranny dip stick removed, levelling valve disconnected, tranny
lines disconnected, shift parts etc. They will have to lift the front end
of the coach up and then place some jack stands under the front frame and
then let the tires down until the tranny will clear the front axel as the
tranny is being pulled straight back. Worse part is the side bolts in the
tranny. You need a nice long drive to get to them because of the clearance.
We did it in about 13 manhours.
