The left front jack on my 88 FC wont fully retract. The piston returns
all the way but the knee action does not go to horizontal. I lubed all
the pivot points. Still wont return to horizontal. HWH trouble shooting
chart suggests the actuator may be at fault. I can get the jack to
retract by manually pushing it up to horizontal. I examined the
actuator rod and it does not appear bent or scored. It is stiff. Can
these be rebuilt or is it just better to get a new one? HWH web site
shows that actuator to be $150.00 OUCH ! I read where John Finn had
his whole system rebuilt for about $900 plus at the HWH factory. Almost
makes me want to do the whole works.

Bruce,

Just replaced the actuator on my driver rear jack, did the same thing.

They have the reman. Units cheaper (around $80.00)..

Not too bad to change..

Good luck.

Bruce,
Check the pivot points closely, on my 87FC the hole for the pivot
bolt had rounded out and caused some binding, the spring was not
strong enough at that point to bring the jack up to the stored
position. I had to take the jack off (it's heavy) and weld the hole,
then re-drill to proper size.
