After Christmas, I went up to Auburn, CA and took a two day course
with Dick Reed of Dick Reed's RV Driving School http://www.rvschool.com>.

As my coach is 42 feet, I am required (in California) to have (at
least) a non-commercial Class B driver's license. Not having taken a
driver's test (driving, not written) in 45 years, I preferred to get
some idea about what will be required and suitable techniques to pass
the exam.

I will say that I was delighted with Dick Reed's teaching -- and that
I've learned a great deal about handling my 'Bird in tight quarters
-- and I've improved my confidence in handling the coach in a number
of common situations.

I can highly recommend the school for those who are new to large
vehicles (as I am) or wish to improve their confidence level with a
large, heavy RV (like a Wanderlodge).

Dick drives a converted Eagle bus ... and had been involved in
training truck drivers hauling oversize loads prior to opening his RV
Driving School about 15 years ago. Dick is selling the business, but
will remain as a part-time instructor. I met the School's new owner
(he sat in on the parts of my instruction that was specific to the
non-commercial Class B license test [which is rather uncommon]) and
he is as even tempered and knowledgeable as Dick.
