Julia, Ground strap to block????
ground link to both sets of batteries?????
power from one battery set for computer and power from another set
for input devices to the computer could be a unique problem with the
Bird causing the confusion with seasoned DD Allison techs.

I hope the new thread caption I enterd will help attract responces
and provide future reference for others. Reading your other topic
heading, I started to print the contact information for my BailBonds
man.

Hi Greg, Julia and Dick. Randy is away in Georgia right now but I called him
and here is the synopsis of our conversation. Randy believes the problems
are not related. He said that although you may have had the grounds all
cleaned there is one that may have been missed. Randy missed this one
himself and only found it by accident. Apparently there is a ground strap
that corrodes easily located on the passenger side of the tranny. This strap
is attached to one of the two 3/4 inch bolts that secure the tranny spin-on
filter bracket to the tranny housing. He only found this grounding strap
when he had to remove the bracket to get at some leaking tranny lines. As
far as the NO TURBO he would need some more info. His first guess was dirty
air filter but I believe you changed the air filter didn't you? He would
also like to know what the code 21 means. Julia if you would like to talk
directly to Randy he told me he would be back from dinner at 8pm Georgia
time which I believe is 7pm your time. I will privately email you his cell
phone number.

According to Industrial Automatic Transmission they spent a lot of
time and our money cleaning up all the ground connections because
that was what seemed to be the problem. Their Service Manager said
it seemed like it wasn't getting enough air. The Detroit Diesel shop
in Oklahoma City said our air filter was good.

Yes changing the subject line is a good idea. We are leaving Van Horn
tonight.

Thanks Rob for talking to Randy. I'll look for his number.

The problem is intermittent which seems to us to say it is not the
air filter. Since it was Allison Transmission specialist who did the
work I would think they would know where all the ground connections
are but we will have S & S check that one. Code 21 means throttle
position sensor error or fault. Everyone says it is not the sensor as
it is an on off switch in the translator between the transmission and
the engine.

We will be on the road at 7 but I will try and phone him around 8 our
time. We don't know if they will let us stay in the coach or if we
will have to find a motel.

Julia I hope this email gets out as I have really poor service here in this
campground. Just in case I have asked Greg in SOCAL to privately email
you Randy's cell phone number.

I'm sure when you changed your oil filters you changed your raycor and fuel
filter! you can have a loss of turbo for that reason also...

Yes, both of those were changed in Oklahoma City.

Has the throttle position sensor been checked/replaced? Sometimes computers can
be correct.
