Leroy Mine works good if I am in flat country. Like FL & near big
city's. I use dish TV for other channels. I'm going to try to take my local
channels from home this year when we travel thru the dish satellite. I tried it
one year & couldn't get them in AZ so I canceled them. It nice to get the home
news when away.

I have been using Dish Sat TV except in cases where a tree or other object
prevented reception. I rarely hook up to cable. After this occurred I contacted
Dish and they informed me, after the fact of course, that I could now receive my
home local networks on Echo110. All other channels are on Echo 119. I assume
all Dish customers use the same satellites. My TracVision L3 will need to be
re-programmed by Camping World or someone else who has the software to do so.
Closest Camping World around here is about 140 miles away. Perhaps I should
stop on the road and have the antenna reprogrammed.

Leroy, I just replaced my antenna with a new Wingard RS-1500. It is
omni-directional and according to the literature it is generally considered to
be good for transmitters within a 35 mile radius of the antenna. I figure
because I mounted it on the old mount and can raise it when we stop that it
might even do a little better.

Dish now uses a "spot beam" for local programming so my understanding is that
you can no longer receive your home stations after you get out of your general
coverage area. I don't know exactly how far that is. I hope that we can still
pick up our local stations on dish in Florida. We have done it in the past, but
I think that was before they went to the spot beam. I'm not sure what the
problem was that caused them to change, but since you pay extra for local
coverage it seems you should be able to get it anywhere. I presume that local
stations somehow objected. I seem to remember that it was a legal issue. Other
than that CRS wins.

You are probably more correct than I am on the antenna performance. Much of
my experience is here in the middle of America and west to the California
boarder. We don't have an abundance of over-the-air stations ... kind of remote
by many people's standards, but the lack of people (and TV stations) has its
advantages.

Dish Network has an option to get either Chicago, LA and I believe NY
network stations anywhere in the US. My local stations are not available
outside
of an XX? radius. I signed up for Chicago and get it everyplace I go. If I
remember properly, it doesn't cost additional when I opted for the local
channels, but I'd have to confirm that.

simple to program (w/o a computer) to access satellite pairs. Info on
requesting the switch came with the dish instructions. It plugs into
the Tracvision on/off panel. Mine is setup for satellites 110 and 119.

As for the BB Antenna, it seems to work as well as any antenna --
distances vary with terrain, height and weather -- which in the end, is
not that great, nor reliable.

Roger/Leroy my BB antenna is surprisingly very good except of course
in remote areas. You are using the rotor to maximize the signal
strength and you do have good connections and cables?

Thanks, I spoke with TracVision tech support and ordered an A/B switch. He also
told me that I may not receive local network channels outside a 400 mile range
from home base due to Federal Regs. Always something these days. How far away
from home base do you receive your local network channels? A friend from
Chicago gets his in DeFuniak Springs, FL. Strange!!

I don't think anybody's TV reception is going to be very
good when the broadcasters switch over to digital transmission.
In the United States, the switch-off of all analog terrestrial TV
broadcasts has been mandated for no later than February 17, 2009,
at which point consumers need to either upgrade their TV's to
be able to decode the digital signal, or add a set-top box that
converts the digital signal to an analog signal.
