WE will be boon docking a lot in our 88 FC in Mexico. Many of the CG's
here barely have enough electricity to run your battery charger.
Running an electric water heater would be next to impossible. Has
anyone here ever installed a regular Atwood or Suburban water heater. I
havent checked to see if it would fit under the bed but I think so.
Would have to run a propane line. The only downside to that location is
that the fuel filler is nearby. Failing that I could remove the ice
maker anmd use that area or the heater.. Cant make ice with that great
Mexican water anyway. Any advice positive or otherwise appreciated. I
could never understand why BB used an electric heater.

Bruce,
You think you would wake up every morning with a gas
heater under your bed? How often are you going to want a
shower? Using the system you have, heat the water while
driving, take a shower with hot water before morning the
next day and your done with it.
Personally if I was to retrofit a gas HW heater, I would
want all those dioxide and monoxide critters away from
my side, especially at night.

We installed an tankless hot water heater in the side bay. Had to
cut some side wall out by the storage compartment, but it worked out
fine. We now use the propane heater exclusively and have the
electric as backup only.
I also wonder with Bluebird having backups to everything, why no
backup to the electric water heater?
