On the '87 FC(probably '88's and '89's as well) the radiator
and after cooler swing open approximately 40* to a welded stop
on the frame. The opening between the radiator and front sheet
metal measure 14 inches full open. Not a place for big guys and
quite restricted for smaller ones.

Does anyone know why there is this limitation. No transmission
cooling done at the radiator, it is at the ZF transmission.
Thanks,

Bob On my 89 SP I would say it is the top & bottom radiator hose can't
open any further. It kinks my top one a lot as when it opens. I replaced my
top this summer & it was only two years old.

Don, Yours would be a single pusher, I am not familiar with
how they open. Factory instructions as I understand call for
draining some fluid and removing the top hose. Someone has
replaced the top hose with flex which folds a tight turn in
the closed position. Restriction is not hose length.
