Earlier I wrote on the above topic. Here's the latest:

Clearance light: corroded socket. A little sand paper and it's now
back in operation. Not a very long-term solution, however. These are
the Peterson M126A lights (on the side of the coach). I've looked at
a bunch of LED models, but none are direct replacements. I can still
get the M126A model with a regular bulb. From the photos, it appears
to be an improved design that better protects the socket from
corrosion. Does anybody know of an LED model that's a direct
replacement for the Peterson M126A clearance lights?

Tail lights: No solution yet.
In testing today, I disconnected the connector for all the rear
lights and powered them with a small 12 v battery that I had
available. All lights operated as expected.

Testing the bus-side connector with the volt meter, I get 12.6 (or
so) volts for the turn signals, brake lights, back up lights, and
stop lights. I get 0.1 volt for the tail lights.

In front, I (think) I found the correct fuse. I had 12.6 volts at the
fuse.
I found (I'm sure) the terminal where the tail light wire heads for
the back of the bus. I had 0.1 volt on the terminal. (Head lights, a
couple of positions over from the tail lights had 12.6 volts.)

So, the problem is somewhere between the fuse and the terminal ... a
distance of six inches.

I can't seem to locate the relay -- and I suspect that there is one.
(More sweating over the wiring diagram tomorrow.)

Any ideas?

Pete,

A while back there was some discussion about using LED's in place
of incandescent marking lights. Tom Warner came up with this rather
informative website describing some of the challenges with LED's.

Thanks. It's a good link ... It has some clearance lights that are
close to the same size as the Peterson M126A.

Doesn't look like the Maxxima are a close match. The Maxxima M20332Y
measure 6.1875" x 1.875" while the Peterson M126A measures 3.75" x
2.25" high. The extra width might not be a problem, but the smaller
height is likely to expose unattractive finish that was covered by
the M126A.

The lights in question aren't the end-cap lights, but rather are
those down the side of the coach. Total of 6 used, 3 on each side.

See <http://www.pmlights.com/products.cfm?cId...1&pId=1403> for
details.

Pete,

What you are looking for is Maxxima M20321Y it is a perfect match for the
M126A. It can be purchased from Rush truck centers who are Peterbuilt
dealers. I believe Birtles also has this available. Only difference is
this is a two wire unit not a single wire. I purchased two from Rush for
$8.33 each, but I believe Birtles has them for a little less. Size is
perfect down to hole locations.

I found that model on the Maxxima web site--and it looked promising,
but the "specs" page for it was without measurements. Thanks, I'll
contact Birtles for a price.
