I'll tell you what. That's Southern for wanna know somethi'n? Service
station where service is the operative word, there ain't much of that
go'in round these days. We do the work, they take the money. Banks are
the same. Please let me charge you to withdraw your money from my
bank. I do not use ATM. Like others I use Flying J (Flying hook in
trucker speak, I recieve a discount with my card), TA and others. I
haven't had limited purchase problems.
Hell, most "service stations" these days will not take a $50 of $100
dollar bill. Actually, they post signs on the door stating so along
side the no shoes no service sign. What service? If I owned a station
I'd take every $100 bill available, would you? Go figure.

some type of customer card?

I called my credit card, customer service. I told the lady
I had a motor home that loved fuel and it took $600 worth
just to see it in the top of the tank. she said, "WOW!!!"

I said, here's the problem, if the fraud people call me
I'm not going to be at home, she seemed to understand.
Charges from fuel vendors not to exceed $600 per day, if
that happens it's not me, my card is stolen by a trucker
hauling dope heading west or a rogue motorcycle gang.

I don't know if this will work, haven't tried it. Seems the
$75 charge would stop this cold unless I charged the card
with about how much it would hold, then put the nozzle in
the filler neck. What if I overestimated?, Credit?

It's apparent that credit card theft and use is more of a
problem each day. I never used to be called, now it happens
more and more. Good guys paying for bad guys deeds.

As members of Passport America we have a Flying J RV Real Value Club card. The
discount isn't huge, I think .02c per gallon but I'll take anything I can get.
We also get one half off in selected parks overnight. Usually, 3 days max.
Generally, no holiday weekends. It all adds up. Annual fee is 44.00 -----less
annually if you chose a 3 year subscription. I hope I have this correct, the
wife handles the details. You get a monthly rag with articles about RV's. We
have found that the annual fee is repaid on one or two weekends. We choose nice
parks with amenities and pay about 18.00 per night while cruising around.

deal. However, I think you got stay with FMCA.
Without getting on a soap box, I generally stop at truck stops. I ask for my
receipt and put it in the box. That way identify theft is more difficult. On
one occasion the cashier called on my American Express card and I had to talk to
the company. That happened in Georgia.
Personally, I'm very comfortable around truckers because, in general, those
guys are busting their hump to deliver the goods to us. Unfortunately, drugs are
rampant is our world and it isn't gonna stop until the demand stops. Supply
interruption ain't work'n. Don't know what to do about that.

How goes the polishing of the aluminum?

You can get the FlyingJ discount card at any of their truck stops. The
discount is a whopping 1/2 cent per gallon of diesel. Re the pumps
stopping at $75.00: This is becoming more prevalant. THe credit card
companies have done this as they claim that fraud at gas stations is a
huge problem. This is due to the "pay at the pumps". I guess they
figure if you pay inside there will be less fraud as the clerk can see
you? At most Flying J's if you use the card and the RV fuel lane the
pump will not stop. At any gas stop if you go inside and give them your
CC the pump will not stop. I find that many of the Flying J's are not
well designed for ingress and egress. If you have a toad many of the RV
aisles are an accident waiting to happen.

Strangely, there have been two posts with the Flying J discount, one saying 2
cents, and one saying 1/2 cent.

The actual is 1 cent, although it can rise slightly if you spend a lot for
non-fuel at Flying J's during the month.

When a Flying J has a $75 limit (some do, some don't, and you often can't tell),
swiping your credit card and your Flying J card does NOT remove the limit. In
such cases, swiping only the Flying J card and running it as "cash" will turn
off the limit, then you go inside and pay when done. Exactly the same as going
in and giving them your CC first, just avoids one of the trips inside and
possible wait-in-line.

Bruce you must be patronizing some of the older Flying J's. All the J's I've
used out west are sort of like 'super centers'. In fact they are the only
place you can count on to be consistently RV friendly with easy access and
exit. I can't say the same for the Love's or TA's in the same area.

Thanks for the info Leroy. Seems like we saw a booklet
on Passport America at the Camping World on I-26, May
be wrong.

If we do decide to go that way, I see in rhe FAQ that
you can get a $10 referral for new members signed up,
so it would only be correct for you to get this.

We may scoot over to Maxton next week-end then to RATS
across from the Georgia State Fairgrounds in Perry, GA
if we can get the scooter scooting.

Polishing? Hard on the bones, seems like a great outlet
for hose "A" or hose "B". Had a big tennis ball come up
on my elbow the last time I polished, maybe motorized is oK?

Don is right and I was wrong. The discount is 1 cent per gallon. May as
well be zero.
