Versus the portable units, the permanent units must
be wired into the coach and internally attached, which
makes their digital displays very hard to read unless
I wish to climb into the bay with the unit, plus I
don't have the ability to carry the unit from one
pedestal to another in search of good power in a
campground. As I mentioned before, my estimation is
10% of the time the campground power is such that I
request another spot. Typically, I return to the
office with a suggested location that meets my
requirements after I have tested the power.

Opposition to the portable units appears to focus on
their possibility of being stolen. I've been using
some type for at least 10-15 years and I've never had
a problem; but, if that is of concern, locking
mechanisms can be purchased.

That link appears to be a dealer. The manufacturer's site appears to
be at http://www.progressiveindustries.net/ where they have more
detailed information on the products.

Looks like a good investment.
