Ihave a new 1000fg racor old style with filter no heater

Hi Stephen,
My filter has 3 sensors going to it. Does that mean that one of them
is for heat? Haven't figured them out yet.

Hi Bob,

My 900FG had two wires going to the bowl (water sensor) and one
going to the middle of the unit (fuel heater) There were a total of 3
wires on the 900 that I had. I replaced with a 1000 FG- which has 4
wires. The old fuel heater in the 900FG just grouded to the frame. The
new one has a ground wire of its own that needs to be attached
somewhere outside the unit- probably because of all the plastic in the
new one.

New guy here again. Per Racor manual, refill Racor housing with diesel
after draining and replacing filter. Necessary? Thanks in advance Brad

Absolutely. Also I would suggest doing the spin on fuel filter last and
replace it quickly with a new "full" spin on filter. This will help to
minimize air in the sytem and the amount of cranking you have to do.

I coat the rubber seal with grease and fill the filter with one quart
of ATF and balance diesel.

To minimize the chance of too much air getting in the system change one
filter, the Racor, for instance, then start the engine and let it run a
couple of minutes. Shut the engine down and change the other filter,
the spin on, for instance, and start the engine.

This way, if you goober it up, you will have a good idea which one you
did wrong.

The goal is trying to keep excess air out of the system, hence filling
the Racor, and by the way, filling the spin on, if applicable prior to
installing it.

Don't get wrapped around the axle on this. It is a simple, straight
forward evolution.
