Scott- the best thing to do is to take that plug out from the bowl and let
that drain out. Flush it out with some fresh diesel and put your new filter
back on. add more diesel and put the lid on. have you changed out your engine
fuel filter?

Got some new RaCor filters today. Pulled the old one out, completely
black. Don't know how long it's been in there, but obviously too
long. Replaced the filter & the seals per the instructions. Got the
drain at the bottom unclogged...here comes my question:

What's coming out of there obviously isn't "clean" green diesel. It is
of a thinner consistency than diesel (thinned by water I assume) and
has a color similar to a good dark beer...a rich, golden color. It
does smell like diesel, but certainly doesn't look like it.

What have I got here? Is this what watered diesel looks like? I
assume I should keep adding fresh diesel to the top and draining
this "stuff" out the bottom until it runs clean diesel out...am I
correct?

I am looking forward to getting out on the road this weekend and seeing
if I have more power. The regular fueld filter was recently
changed...I assumed the shop that did that also looked at the RaCor.
Nope.

Hey Scott, was thinking about you today. I was searching for
some "other" stuff and came across an old post. Check this post out,
it might be applicable to you. Post # 1439 type it in the search and
you can read it.. How about the Biobor did you use it?? Did you fill
with fuel?? It sounds to me like you have some algae in the fuel,
causing the dirty color, the black stuff on the filter.

Since you are still concerned, first of all diesel fuel and water do
not mix, kinda like vinegar and oil salad dressing.:>) The water is
heavier and will go to the bottom of the filter bowl and fuel tank.
It will stay there until you remove it. Clean diesel fuel should look
like new motor oil except much thinner. This cloudy fuel may be a
result of a dirty filter and algae growing. If it is then great the
filters are doing their job. Remember just keep several on hand.
Given your set of circumstances at this point I would urge you to
follow a previous post and remove the filter assembly and clean it
really well. When you remove the fuel lines have a couple of bolts
handy to screw into the lines to cap them while working and the racor
fuel filter assembly is removed. The pump as outlined above may be
your best chance here. Otherwise you will have to remove the fuel
tank and have it steam cleaned..not fun or cheap. If you go that way
let me know..I have a container large enough for your "old" fuel.
(hehehe) If you set up the fuel pump as described by Jay then you
could clean the filter assembley while the pump is running. This may
require some work but none of it is too tough. I am pretty sure you
will notice a difference when you finally do go for a ride.
