SHRIMP BOATS ARE A-COMING - THE BIRDS ARE IN SIGHT!!!
The sometimes annual Lone Star Birds summer shrimp boil is scheduled
for August 6, 7,and 8 at the Houston Leisure RV Resort. The park
is making our usual facilities available to us again. That means a
very nice park and great pavilion for boiling, socializing, horse
shoes, etc. We again have received the large private room with
complete galley and dining area.
Friday evening we will cross the Houston Ship channel on the small
Lynchburg Ferry for dinner at the Monument Inn. You are on your own
Saturday until about 2:00 P.M. The Space Center, numerous museums
and shopping is reachable by automobile.
We will start putting the shrimp boil together Saturday afternoon at
2:30 P.M. with dinner sometime between 6:00 and 7:00 P.M. Of course
there is no time limit on socializing, responding to discussions
about Blue Birds, and trying to out dazzle your friends with war
stories and lies.
Provided will be salad, boiled shrimp, mild and spicy, boiled red
potatoes, corn on the cob and coffee. The cost will be divided
evenly among the fun group. You know the routine. We need a super
turnout!
Required will be some salad chefs, one dessert for every three
coaches, and just enough lite hors d'oeuvres while dinner
preparations are underway to keep the troops from starving.
Sunday morning at 9:00A.M. we will repeat our hugely successful
Sunday brunch. Each coach is requested to provide a dish (filled of
course). Coffee and juice will be provided.
Reservations made earlier than later is requested as the shrimp
cannot be ordered until we have a fairly accurate count. The shrimp
is purchased fresh off the boat, but we have to put our order in a
few days ahead of time.

your stay if you want to remain longer. The rate is $26.10 per day.
Directions are east on I-10 18 miles east of downtown Houston. Exit
onto Crosby-Lynchburg Rd north at mile marker 787. Go north for
4/10 of a mile and turn right at the sign into the Houston Leisure
RV Resort. The office closes at 7:00 PM, but late arrival
reservations will be left on the office/store front door.
