I think I have narrowed down my gremlin and it might be a relay in the
control box that has gone bad.

the relay is a Guardian electric 1395 series # 788TA does anybody know
where to get one or a similar relay that would work from napa/autozone?

Mike,

If that doesn't work take a look at the volt meter in the control box. Ours had
the same symptoms then we discovered that the meter had gone open. I just
bypassed it since it is not really used anyway. (This was on our '81FC31).
