While changing all the belts and hoses I noticed that my cooling fan
was loose. In fact, it looks like the previous owner disconnected
it. The bolt in the front was only hand tight. The fan spins freely.
When I tightened the bolt the fan will not spin at all. I think the
bearings may be bad? Also, are there suppose to be any wires
attached to the fan area? I noticed a red wire that was torn off.
The fan blades look like they have been hitting something over the
years. Should I replace the whole unit, fan and clutch and if so,
where would you find it at?
The swing radiator was very hard to get open. It was caught on the
fan blades. Is this common? It is almost as if the fan is too large.
It was even harder when I tried to close the radiator back. Now I
realize you have to lift up some on the radiator to manuver past the
fan but there is over 2" of fan blade to get past. I was able to
bend the fan shroud out of the way. Has anyone else had this
problem? I am tempted to remove the whole shroud and cut it down
some...
Any advice would be great..

find the correct fan. It does great for local trips. What would be
involved in doing the "air fan" conversion? Would that be an expensive
job? Or does anyone have a source for the Facet fan?

You will need a air solenoid (aka: Skinner valve) to turn the air
on/off, and contact Mike Hohnstein (here or on the other forum) as he
has one or two used Horton air fans on his shelf.

Listen to these gentlemen. They know what their talking about. I've followed
the forums for long enough to know that your options are limited. Don't even
think of the aftermarket electric fans. The forum doesn't want to go down
that road again.

I installed the Horton fan about 6 or 7 years ago and have been glad
I did ever since. Compared with the $1,300 I paid back then, Mike
is offering you a very good deal. This is a proven solution for our
older birds that I would seriously consider if it were me....

It's not an air line, it's an electric cord in split conduit. It will not work
on a 3208 application. The Facet can be repaired in most cases, but one has to
take the assembly apart and inspect it. I have a viscous clutch on the toter
home and it works well, how ever it was difficult to find a fan to work with it.
The Horton air clutch is the closest bolt on fix as it is for the BB motor home
application.

Thanks for all the information. Can anyone tell me what the conversion process
would take? Is it something that I could do myself? This new fan would just bolt
on and I would need to run air from someplace?
