Chris

Been working on my recently purchased bird all weekend doing odd jobs.
Each time I am there I start it up and drive around the field and such.
Saturday I took my first drive on a regular paved road. All went well
and she drove great. Even better on a 4 lane highway. Came back and
turned her off, all fine, little latter started up fine. Came by today
and started right up. Came back a few hours later and installed new air
filter and would not start. Just cranks over but will not start. Seems
like it is not getting fuel??? I even tried a little starting fluid and
it would catch for a few seconds but not stay running. For the past
month she has always just kicked right over without a hitch...
Any suggestions???
Thanks,
Chris Reed

Isn't the fuel solinoid right there by the air filter? Maybe a wire came loose.

If its 3208 you may have knocked the wiring to the fuel solenoid off. when you
turn the key on you should here the solenoid click. its a verticle mounted
solenoid that sets on top of the fuel assembly. you can remove the solenoid and
pull up on the fuel lever inside the service assembly if it cranks thats your
prolem just push back down to shut it off. the solenoid is always hot when the
key is on.

Open the "T" handle drain on the front then use the
priming fump, fuel then it's the shut off, no fuel,
then it's a broken line of clogged filter. If the
pump handle springs back, clogged filter. You can
put one hand on the solenoid, the other on the key,
turn Ign on-off and feel a slight vibration, hummm
like. Contrary to what has been said about the fuel
shut off lever, I think down is off, up is on. You
can remove the two screws, then with a screwdriver
or rod depress the lever. Could be stuck down. I am
possibly wrong on this but either way the lever has
to go up and down. Fuel is shut-off to stop a diesel
engine, nothing else.

check the two wires to the fuel shutoff solenoid. If you bumped them during
air filter change, may have broken one.
