Enough already about Skins ...

No-One; can wear out any them, not even me, so what are you looking for?

The tread will out-last where the rubber meets the road.

Finally, after about six years, the side walls, on any brand, will give
out under the weight of a real bus ...

That's the truth.

Even if you never start the darn tuck up.

Want to ride the best, and look the smartest? -- Buy Michelins, there
is none better or more costly.

That's just life, I drive a lot, and my tires say Kelly on them, if you
want to know how old they are, ask Dave.

My bus would ride great with any brand, because it's a great riding bus!

BTW: If anyone out there thinks they might roll more miles than me,
than contact me on this forum, please no more e-mails.

Before you holler stop I suggest you read the former emails. To me
and I bet others tires are a very important topic. Your FC33 is no
where near the weight of a PT 40 and thus the tires you can use are
not acceptable to use on a heavy PT 40. There is a great deal of
difference between tires and the ones you select in my opinion are
not dependent on how much rubber is on them or how soft they ride. I
am looking for a 12R22.5 16 ply all steel belted tire with treads and
sidewalls and that eliminates the Michelin doesnt it? What are other
owners of PT 40s using for tires on the drives and tags?

started..........start by saying ..love you all!!!!....I fly to
Australia every six months and then travel around under there!!
How's that??....but there's more...I just bought a 1980FC31 Park
model with leaf springs and plan to drive around the USA for 6
months a year gettting 10-11mpg! How bout dat??

The previous owner outfitted my 'Bird with Toyo tires purchased from
Les Schwab. On the road, they seem to handle just fine. Looking at
the receipts (left in the coach), it appears that they were 'spin'
balanced rather than using the powder stuff.

The question that comes to mind .... the tires are rated for a
maximum of 70 MPH (as are most large tires). So, what exactly are the
big rig (trucks) using when they blast by me when I'm already running
at 65-70 MPH? (Or is that why I see so many remnants of blown out
truck tires on the road?)

Hello, President Hank.

Your air miles do not count! But it sounds like you are running in
front of the pack for sure.

My point is that the same rated tire, regardless of brand name, will
most likely give you the same amount of serviceable driving.

How many companies actually manufacture tires? Are they all made in
the same plant in Akron Ohio? I don't know, but certainly there are
many more brand names than manufactures.

Pete; I own a trucking and construction co. the reason there are parts of
tires on the side of the road is under inflation of the tires. I've used
just about ever brand of tire made. the best is Toyo or Bridgestone the
worst was Firestone.The only diff between the 12 and 11R22.5 is one inch
width of the tire . the wider the tire the less the fuel milage and the
hotter the tire will run. that is some of the reasons the super wide tires
never caught on. about weight the tire can carry, I used to haul large
transformers and would be over 200,000 gross weight , the biggest factor was
air pressure. I air everything at 100 to 110 psi.you get some wear patterns
after a while but it was nothing I could not live with.dave 91 WBPT 40
