My wife and I have started our quest for the perfect "pre-owned" BB.
We're also finding the price margin a little confusing. On coaches
from the late 70's to mid 80's we've seen swings as far as 10 to 25
thousand dollars regaurdless of "restored" or not. So now we're going
to focus on condition and options rather than a certain price.

Being recent "empty-nesters" we were thinking of a fulltime RV
lifestyle. (5 year plan?)Can anyone help us with the options that
should be considered a must in the hunt for a used coach? The former
truck driver in me knows deisel is a must for longevity, but after
that it's a toss-up. We really like the style and solid craftmanship
we see in the older models, not to mention they can be paid off
sooner. Thanks in advance for any helpfull insight!

We lived in a 1995 Safari Serengeti for 10 years. We ordered it new,
from the factory. Then Jack got the Bird bug. We started shopping for a
used Wanderlodge. As a fulltimer, I know that storage space is critical.
The following were my requirements: 102" wide coach and at least a 1991
model year( liked the more squared-off roof), overhead cabinets in the
living room, laminated cabinetry(was tired ofwood), washer/dryercombo,
queensized bed, walk-through bath floor plan, large capacity generator
and inverter. I wasn't too concerned with interior colors as long as
they were light. I became more careful about that after we drove 8 hours
to see a Wanderlodge at a Bluebird dealer. I thought, from the pictures
I received from the salesman, that the kitchen cabinets were off white.
AND, I must admit, I didn't ask aboutthe color. Well, when I walked into
that coach, I nearly fainted. The kitchen laminate cabinets were peachy
pink. So after that, I was extremely careful to ask about colors. We
wound up buying our Wanderlodge from a private party. Hope this helps

Liz,
Thank you for your help. We almost forgot about the washer-dryer
combo. We're so "green" about a full time lifestyle, every time we
talk about it, we come up with more questions than answers. Things
like insurance , plates, mailing address and deep downsizing because
of the lack of a garage for all my "junk". (Peg is really looking
foward to that downsizing thing.) I guess I won't need my snow blower
when we can run from bad weather! We found out there's alot to
consider, so now our lists are starting to have lists. The research
makes me want the lifestyle more. Thank you again. Maybe we'll see you
out there one day.
