I've asked a similar question before, but I'm going to rephrase. The
generator slide, step and step light switch are all not functioning in
my coach. It's likely the problem is a common one--lack of voltage?
Are all three on one fuse or circuit breaker? If so, where is it? If
not, can anyone suggest where the problem in voltage delivery may lie?

Kerry:

The breaker for those circuits is located in the right front load center.
That is the one next to the tv switch over compartment on the curb side.
You may simply have lost the ground to the switch. Check to be sure the
relay in the change over compartment by the steps in the entry way is
plugged in and the wiring is intact there too.

slide.
May I suggest you remove the toggle switch by the door and see if you
have power to that switch? If you do then go down to the step switch
that is the one that looks like a button located on door frame. You
can
pull this out easily and check to see if you have power to that
switch and the
other side of that switch. On that last switch there should be a
wire
that runs down and under the step entrance. This wire connects to a
pressure sensing cable that looks like a heater strip. On mine the
strip was shot and was grounding the whole system out. You can
remove
this device or just remove the wire to that switch on the door. Try
that and see what happens. Just in case I didn't explain this good
enough just remember on that button switch should be one wire to and
two that lead away. One of those leads are for that pressure sensing
tape I told you about.

Thanks. I did pull out that relay and look at it, but didn't have my
multimeter out when I did. I'll check there, and the ground, and then
the load center. It's got to be a loose connection somewhere since it
began working when I was driving down the highway last week and cut
out again later.

I dont see the pressure sensing switch on mine. At least there are no
wires going to the step itself. Since none of the switches in the box
to the left of the steps are working, I'm going to start with the
assumption that it is a common problem. When the step started working
while going down the road, the footwell light started working at the
same time. I didn't check the generator switch to see if it was
working when the other two were. The two switches I see in the door
frame are high up on the right hand side. Just push buttons like a
refrigerator light switch.

Kerry that pressure sensing unit is under the foot plate just as you
steep in. It there to protect your little toes in case the stairs
retract and your foot is in the way. Mine had been moved out oft
that position and placed inside area so they would not haft to cut
the electrical lines. It gone now as that was my main problem. One of
those switches send a signal to the steeps to retract when the door
is closed. That is why I would take that toggle switch up on the
stair wall and see if you have juice to it and then go down to one of
those switch that look like refrigerator switches and see if they are
working. I replaced my door switch (Refrigerator look alike) as it
was pretty well worn out and being in the weather it gets allot of
wear and abuse. This could be your problem one of those switches.

Thanks for that crucial information. Turns out the nut on the stud to
which the wires for the step are attached in the load center was
missing, resulting in an intermittent connection. Put a nut on the
stud and the step worked fine. I'm parked too close to the adjacent
RV in the storage lot to test the generator slide, but I'm thinking
that problem is also most likely solved.
