We bought a 91 PT40 with twins in the reat. We thought we wanted a queen
but we got a coach at 12% under wholesale so we took it. We then modified
the twins to a "california king" (two twins put together. We use a mattress
pad and it works ok. It ended out to bee a blessing for us as when our
children come home (son and daughter) we split up the bed into two twins and
everybody is happy. Also works if kids come over with boy or girl friends to
spend
the night. We thought we wanted a queen but couldn't be happier with the
converted twins. We redid the head board to look like a king size bed and took
out the center drawer and had two side drawers put on either side that will
convert to a double center drawer when in twin configuration. When I asked
BB about the conversion they quoted an estimate of about 12k. it didn't take
me long to look for other alternatives.

I have tried searching the forum messages for an answer but repeated
searches time out before returning results so forgive me if this
subject has been exhaustively discussed.

I am wondering if it is possible and/or feasible to convert a coach
with twin beds to a queen bed?

the answer is yes it is possible and feasible
Our coach was concerted to a centerqueen there is a fair bit of work
involved
rip out old beds move utilities and water tank build 2 new end tables
and rebuild bed if yopu have a look at some of the other coaches they
have a single bed on the curbside of the bedroom only fall back to
this is one person has to sleep against the wall and has to climb over
the other to exit the bed For this practice or option up on your coin
flipping to see who gets the wall seat
The main consideration is what to do with suburban furnace in the back
with a center queen
with the proper amonunt of planning and a little work it is possible

It's possible, which model coach makes a big difference as to how much
work it'll be however.

I have a queen size bed in the Rebel bird and you can get into on
either side. If your interested I can take some pictures for you and
explain how the previous ower did this. Of course the Rebel Bird
berthing area was a dog pound at one time but that was changed out
for a small bedroom. If interested just E-mail me at Jipjob@....

I just placed some pictures that show how my bedroom looks. They
don't show how much room there is around the bed but it enough to get
up from either side and not bother your mate. I think the clearance
all the way around except for the driver side wall is about one foot.
You do haft to lift the bed to get to the water heater and storage
tanks and flip open the original floor panels. Under the bed there is
two pieces of heavy duty ply board that are hinged in the middle so
you can get under that area with not to much problem. The person who
did this had this well planed out and it works. Jon
