Does anyone live in the Houston Baycliff area that would be willing to
go by and look at this bird and give me an honest off post evaluation
of it. It is the one posted on vintagebirds.com the red/siver, red/white
one.
I do know that it has been sitting for at least a year. The radiator
is out and at the shop for clean rod and recore if needed. The belts
are being changed. There is no power from genset to coach, the curent
owner told me that he is working on that. The engine has been swaped
from a NA to a Turbo, I do not know if the rear end chunk was changed
or not. I know the goat rails and ladder have been modified. I plan on
taking it to Feltons RV service and Nick's diesel for the coach and
mechanical Pdis unless someone has better reccomandations. Feltons
labor is 96/hour the mechaical Pdi is 260.

I know this is a 26 old coach and it will need some attention.

Hugh,

We have several members in the Houston area. Perhaps one of them will
see this in the next few days and be able to swing by.

As far as the two shops you found, I can tell you I have used Nick's
Diesel Service for road service and was *very* satisfied with the work
and the price. We were at an NHRA event at Baytown and they had to
fight their way through heavy raceday traffic and didn't even charge a
trip charge as I recall. Then they had to travel about 45 minutes
each way to pick up parts. The mechanic I got was named Tom. Don't
know how you found them, but they're good guys in my log book.

Never heard of Felton's RV.

Good luck and hope the purchase works out for you.

Mike
I found them in the web based Houston yellow pages they had a web ad.
They were willing to go out to do the PDI until I told them there was
no concrete, then they asked if it would be possible to bring it to
the shop. Would you pay for the coach PDI? Mitch at Feltons said it
could take up to 4 hours. This will be a strange trip will have to
swing thru San Antonio to pick up a stowmaster 5000 towbar that I
bought for $150.00. On the way home we are going to Ft Worth to
surprise my wife's family for about a week before we head home.

Hea Hugh, I can go down and look at the Blue Bird for you
concerning the condition of the interior and exterior and the under
carraige compartments and so forth. But I can not tell you anything
on the engine and mechanical stuff. Larry my husband will be back
Monday, the man that bought our Blue BIrd is flying into town from
Florida and I can see if he can make it out to Bacliff before he has
to leave again and check the other stuff for you.

Margo
I am still waiting on my government check to coming. I thought it
would be this week. I have found a diesel shop in Houston that will do
a complete mechanical PDI for 260. once i get my check I would
appreciate it if you could go out and look and give me an "honest
evaluation". You may have seen it it is the one on the vintagebird
site that is red/sive that has had the goat rails modified. It the next
to last listing. did you at least keep Scooby? I will email you when
the check comes in.
Thanks Hugh
