On my 88FC some of the lights work but some do not. How do you access
the back of the guages to replace a bulb. Most of the sexy back lights
for the dash panels are not lit. Are they bulb powered or?

Hi Bruce,

The dash panels are accessed by removing the screws around the outside
edge of the panel and then tilting the panel toward the rear to access
the underside. On my '90 and '99, I found that the easiest way is to
tilt the steering wheel down toward the drivers seat and lift the top
of the panel up toward the steering wheel. I use a wire tie through one
of the screw holes near the center to hold the panel up against the
wheel so I have two hands to work on the back of the individual
gages/instruments etc. You will see easily accessible bulbs.

As for the illuminated lines; these are electroluminescent panels
powered by several small inverters that produce he higher voltage from
12VDC that is needed to light the panels. If the panels are damaged, or
drilled in the wrong place, they will no longer light up. Usually,
however, you will just need a replacement inverter. I don't know which
panels you have problems with but if you post that info, someone will
steer you to the location of the defective part.

Contact Stephen Birtles for the upgraded inverters for your dash panels.
Worked for me. Stephen also sells the inverters for the florescent
lighting.
