Hi folks,

Just got done searching past posts about installing an auxiliary air
compressor in the basement of my 94 Wanderlodge WBSA. Is the GAST
compressor the recommended way to go? Or is there a better and more
commonly used compressor that I did not see?

I need the compressor to pump up my air system without the engine
running, air tires, operate my dump valves, and be available as an
emergency backup in case of engine driven air compressor failure (I
take it 12volt compressor would be required for this). I already have
a compressor that operates the air system for the toilet but I assume
that compressor has to remain solely dedicated to the toilet operation.

I am going to Quartzsite for the first time this year. Do you folks
know of a particular person/vendor who would be able to install this
auxilliary compressor while I am there? Also, I need a new left side
windshield pane installed. What are the chances that I could get that
done by someone while I am there? I have no clue who to call in
advance to arrange.

Thanks for any advice/help you can give.

Jerry you might want to contact Canyon State Bus Sales in
Phoenix,Arizona since they are a Bluebird School Bus dealer. They
will know how to work on your bus and you can have the windshield
shipped there for installation.

Jerry,

A-Z bus is also a Bluebird dealer. They have a shop in Sacramento and, I
believe, in Compton, CA. I have used the Sacramento shop and had good
service.

Jerry,

From what I have learned, the Auxiliary Compressor is an 120 VAC unit.
If you have the switch on the dash as I have, then you should have the
relay in a box at the rear of the driver side baggage bay. I checked
into the GAST but found it was a very expensive unit. I picked up a 2
hp 120 VAC compressor from Sears on a close out. I have yet to figure
out exactly where to mount it. I already know where the connection is to
connect the air and the box with the relay. Mounting it is not at the
top of my list yet. I can use it as a portable compressor in the mean
time.....

A 120v compressor can extend the life of your 12v compressor for the
toilet also ($$$).

The Gast is a nice unit, they are industrial compressors. I'm not
sure that this expensive a unit is necessary, you will be primarily
concerned with noise so that it doesn't shake and rattle the coach,
and the cut-in/cut-out PSI if you want to inflate tires to 115psi or
more. Packaging is also an issue, many folks will separate the
compressor and tanks and install the compressor only.
