Henry, If you can get to an actual model of that commode and measure from
where the bolts protrude to the rear and then measure yours, you might get a
feel if it will fit. Good luck, Ernie Ekberg

(1) Has anyone replaced a Thetford Aquamagic commode with anything that was an
easy replacement in a sidebath FC? If so, I'd like to hear what product you
went with and what was involved. (2) I thought that replacing a Thetford with
another Thetford would reduce the work involved. Thetford says that the
replacement, the Bravura model, bolts right into the AquaMagic's flange bolts so
this sounds simple. The problem I see is that the space behind the old commode
is tight and I'm worried that the 2" longer Bravura might not fit in. (3) Any
advice appreciated. Thanks. Henry Claeys, McAllen, Tx, 1979 FC, SB, 35,

Henry,

We replaced our about a year or so ago with a Thetford china
model. I don't recall the model name. It was a very easy bolt in
installation.....

Hey Henry, I just did some work on our commode in our RB. The pedal
quit working properly. It was very rusty and well after 20 yrs I guess
a little maintenance was in order. I can tell you that there is not
much to "rebuild" if you want to keep the same one. But If you want to
just replace it then I would stay with Thetford brand and it should
bolt up. Check with Thetford about the footprint for the replacment. In
my "bull in a china shop" approach I rung off the copper line and had
to re-solder fittings, and I used flexible hose because there is very
little room behind the unit and it is plumbed directly into the copper
lines. Now I can "easily" remove the unit simply by unbolting it from
the floor and set it aside without "unplumbing" should I "have to"...I
did "have to" when replacing the hot water tank at RIV and was glad I
had room to remove it.

I've installed the Bravura with no fit problem. Its larger seat makes
it stick out a couple more inches at most, but worth it IMO. The
thetford china version I don't recommend, one spray location instead of
around the rim like the Bravura, doesn't flush as well and clear the
bowl.

If you go china in that coach, look at the SeaLand toilet, IMO a much
better unit and still a direct fit to the floor (although the water
line will need modification on any of the mentioned toilets).
