I want to know top or max possible speed versus recommended RPMs and
associated speed. We are lucky to avg 60 mph. I think we have stock
gears. Max RPMs are at or just under 2500.

Shawn,

The Vintage Birds site has rpm versus mph charts that will answer your
question. You will need to look at the build plate on your Bird to
identify your rear gear ratio though.

Our 80 with a 89 motor runs about 65 miles per at 2100 rpm's.
Checked the speedo with my wifes car and fathers Caddy, spot on.
Can really move down the road but after 70, bad thing could really
happen with a rig that big. (31900lbs ain't stopping real fast)
When the motor was installed they surely changed the gears as well.
